'We' are a large circle of friends and like-minded people who work together in an attempt to reduce the suffering of cats who have been abandoned in our region in north Croatia. We are centred around the city of Varazdin although we reach far in all directions from the city.
We are a collection of individuals, many of who have several 'home' cats - all of which arrived as fosters but for whom we cannot find permanent homes. Most of us already have far too many cats at home. Nearly all of us take measures to help out colonies of abandoned cats who live in scrub land, industrial areas and in forests. This involces regular feeding, catch-sterilise-release programmes, veterinary care (if we can catch the cat) and providing shelters to protect them against the elements and predators. Where possible, we provide vaccinations, de-worming and parasite treatments. Some are 100% feral but most are abandoned domestic cats.
Our cat shelter in the Drava Forest at Varazdin.
We work with a number of NGOs who are mainly staffed by dedicate dpeople who work long and hard to rescue abandoned cats and find homes for them. Most of the cats we have re-homed have come from one of these NGOs although, from time to time, one or two arrive at our front door by one method or another.
The reason this web page is in English is to grow awareness in the region of south-central Europe and help us to reach out to like-minded people outside of Croatia, we already have contacts in Germany and Austria.
We need homes for cats... kittens, injured cats, old-timers, all colours, all sizes....
They will all have at least one thing in common... They have no home.
Some live in sheds, barns, empty houses etc, some in plastic or wooden boxes left out for them to shelter from the rain and cold, some live in cages, many live and die without us even knowing they were there. So it's very simple. Whilst we try to educate and cajole people into sterlising local cats and to disavow them of the delusion that cats can survive without assistance in the wild in Europe... we do have an endless supply of cats in need of a home.
That is how you can help. Please get in touch.
